Another busy weekend, another stay at the hotel!

We have almost a full house at the hotel this weekend and still no overnight patrol person, so I volunteered to stay on site. I don't even care if I use the jacuzzi tub or not during the course of the weekend because I just enjoy the break from the disaster area that is my home. Plus, I get to use the room's TV for background noise while I veg in my room after my shifts.

I know that I have to work on cleaning my home, especially if I want to figure out what I can get rid of in terms of clothing and other crap I don't really need. Besides, I know that there are clothing items I have that are buried deep in one of the piles of junk I have.

Anyhow, last night I was waiting in the hotel lobby for my Skip the Dishes delivery and I was sure I heard an unmistakeable series of noises. The more I listened, the more sure I was.

Some missus was getting thoroughly railed in one of the rooms on the first floor.

First I heard skin slapping skin. And then I heard her moaning. I was very tempted to yell out that they didn't have to try so hard because they weren't in a porno, but instead I stayed quiet and simply collected my food order when it arrived. I had a good chuckle up in my room though! I'm sure most people have no idea just how thin hotel walls are. At least it didn't sound like they were right in the hallway! I experienced that at the first hotel I worked at - they were fucking so loudly that I was convinced that they were going at it right against their hotel room door. I could hear EVERYTHING, including the squelching noises as the missus got drilled. Gross.

And today, some junkie ran through the spa boutique and then up the stairs to the massage area to be found in one of the waiting rooms. It was sketchy as fuck, and this is the same guy who walked into the spa and right into the spa manager's office. We still don't know for absolutely certain what he was doing, but I'm pretty sure he was looking for un-attended purses and wallets so he could steal them or the money that might be in them. Thankfully I'd locked the hotel doors before I went upstairs to try to fix one of the spa computers, because that is when the dude was removed from the building and he could very likely have tried the same thing with the hotel.

I know that this area has some very sketchy people around - it's sort of half nice and half sketchy as fuck. I've been living around here for coming up on ten years now and not much surprises me lately. And it seems like some of the weirdos are only getting worse. And folks wonder why we don't encourage people coming by for a free coffee or whatever - we don't want these types in our building. It's not because we're discriminating against them - it's that we are not encouraging them to bring their issues onto the property and into our workplaces.

I also found out yesterday that I am eligible for benefits through work, and I will be taking advantage of them once I've got them in place. I also know that I will be keeping my f/t hours even if it means that I work more in the spa than in the hotel - I am fully cross-trained for both front desks, and I am a strong leader, which is something that is needed at both desks. Besides, at the moment I pretty much am the supervisor over both desks anyway. Woo?

It is because of my versatility that my boss is pushing to get me another raise. If not for me, things may have fallen completely to shit with how we've had so many employees go on stress leave, starting with my boss. When she went out on leave, I took on quite a bit of responsibility without being asked, and I continued with that responsibility even when my boss returned to work. And now that my boss is currently filling in as the spa manager I've basically become her back-up. If she's not able to come into work, I step right into her shoes and keep things running, especially as she has a lot going on outside of work which has kept her out of work for a day here or there. That's when I just take over the spa office for the day.

I still get the feeling that if the actual spa manager doesn't come back that one of us is going to permanently take over running the spa. I am learning a fair bit about how to run the spa, and it probably will not be too much longer before I am being shown how to order supplies specifically for the spa.

Oh well, such is life. We'll see how it all goes!
