The new bed is amaze-balls!

I've been sleeping on my new bed for a week now, and it's been absolutely incredible! Having a decent mattress makes all the difference in the world. It is so nice to wake up and not be in pain. The mattress is a hybrid coil and memory foam one, and that foam makes all the difference in the world, I swear. I can't sleep on a hard mattress, nor can I sleep on something without any support, but this mattress is pretty much perfect. I finally put the sheet set on last night after buying a new set last week. I'd been sleeping on top of my comforters with a fuzzy TARDIS blanket over me because it had been way too warm for anything else for several days last week, but last night my bedroom was actually cold enough that I needed to sleep under something warmer than the blanket. So, the sheets went on the bed. I even put the flat sheet on it, and I usually can't stand top sheets, but after doing hotel housekeeping I can fully appreciate why they're a good thing to have

New bed!

The bed is all put together and the mattress is on it. I couldn't find the fitted sheet I bought for it to use while waiting for the set I bought, so I just tossed the comforters on it for now. It's not like I've been sleeping under them lately with how warm my apartment has been. I've got a throw blanket I've been using to cover up with and that's good enough. I cleared enough space to get the bed set up, but now I have to start cleaning in earnest. Where my bed currently is isn't where I plan on keeping it, but I really can't move anything around while I've got the mess going on. Plus I still have to clear the living room enough to move my desk into one of the corners of it. I did, however, manage to fill one garbage bag with junk from what had managed to migrate under my bed. On my old bed I had a fancy mattress pad and cover, but it's a twin so it won't fit my new bed. My kid is looking very forward to getting that for their bed - I gave

Never on a Sunday?

Well, that's not necessarily the case when it comes to some things. Such as my mattress finally getting delivered. Yep, it's here. Officially delivered this morning, as a matter of fact. Now I just have to get off my ass and get my new bed frame put together. After I remove my old mattress and bed frame. And the twin-size headboard. Not to mention finally cleaning my room... The plan was to clean my room today anyway. Yes, I've been procrastinating like I usually do or I'd already have my room cleaned and ready to go. Meh. Such is life sometimes. At least now I've got a good motivator to get my ass in gear! The mattress is currently tightly rolled up in a box that is currently sitting on the landing one flight of stairs down from my apartment. It's safe there - the front door to the house locks - and it's as far as I could lug the box on my own. Not that I've really got anywhere to put it right now before I get my bedroom sorted out. I've got to put

Waiting sucks donkey balls -_-

Still waiting on my damn mattress to show up. I did give in and order the metal bed frame I wanted though, and that is currently sitting in it's box in my kitchen. The bed sheets I ordered are on their way, and I know where those are, as opposed to my mattress. My bedroom is still a disaster. I haven't touched it since the end of May because I just feel so defeated right now. I was all excited about getting my new bed, and then there was no movement on the delivery for over a week. I knew that if I saw that everything was at least in the city that I'd go on a cleaning spree and get my room completely tip top. But yeah. In other news, I'm still in the process of adding Goth touches to my place! A friend of mine owns and operates a Goth accessory online store, and I've made a couple of purchases from it, and she has sent me extra goodies with each order! She's so damn sweet :) And I haven't told her yet, but once I get the pattern for a crocheted lace parasol

Black Lives Matter...and if you don't agree, then you can fuck off

In the past couple of weeks the US has exploded into riots in the aftermath of the murder of George Floyd at the hands of the police. Four now-former police officers are being held accountable for his death due to their actions. The incident has sparked several protests around the world in support of Black Lives Matter. And riots have also occurred. A lot of blame for the damage and instigation of the riots has been placed on black people. Despite there being plenty of video evidence showing that white people are heavily involved in destroying and looting of businesses and vehicles. But most disturbing are the images of police brutality, often against peaceful protesters who have done nothing to incite the violence against them. I have seen many videos and pictures of injuries caused by 'less lethal' rubber bullets, people being roughly pushed to the ground, people being beaten by batons, fists, riot shields, and so much more by the police who are supposed to protect and serve
