Getting old? Purchased a mattress protector and two pillow protectors in the past couple of days...

So, I've done something I know for a fact my mother never did - I purchased a mattress protector and two pillow protectors! My mother never saw the value in them, but after I replaced my old mattress and got the new one I find that I want it to last a long time without getting stains all over it. And sweat does stain, trust me! And as I bought two brand new pillows today to replace a couple of mine that are stained yellow from sweat and drool, I bought pillow protectors for them. I found that it didn't matter how much bleach (and bluing) I bought to get rid of the yellow staining that it simply would not budge. They look completely awful despite only buying them a few years ago and washing them on a regular basis. I want the new ones to look nice for longer, so I got the protectors for them. And I'm going to be going down to two pillows on my bed instead of four. I usually stack them in twos, but it's not good for my neck, especially as I'm a side sleeper. And it

So, apparently somebody didnt like being called out...

Back in November of last year the needy, melodramatic one tried to pretend that she had amnesia...and I called her out on it after her roomie at the time confirmed it was fake. Well, apparently that was enough for this person to just up and move out. It would seem that she didn't like being called out for her bullshit, and maybe she felt betrayed that her roomie would have confirmed that she was lying to get sympathy. Especially to me. I dont know whether to find it funny or pathetic, honestly. Considering that this missus only announced a couple of days ago that she got her own apartment. I doubt many people even knew she'd already left her roomie situation. Other than her little band of minions who seem to hang on her every word. Even more amusing is the fact that she made an alternate account as a means to spy on me. Not that people who aren't on my a-list on FB can see anything other than public posts, and there aren't many of those. She unblocked me once on her reg

Why I don't own a car in Newfoundland

This is a conversation that comes up fairly regularly over the years that I've lived here - why don't I own a car? I have a driver's license and I maintain it, driving a friend's car once in a while, but I don't own a car here. I used to own a car when I lived in BC and I would have driven it across Canada when I made the decision to move here, but I knew that it was not likely to survive the trip. Either because it would have an epic breakdown or I'd have an extreme episode of road rage, or both. I do miss my car - it was a little 5-speed sports car that looked like a piece of shit, but ran beautifully otherwise as it drove smooth (after a run-in with a ditch, surprisingly enough) and was really easy on gas. This province is nuts for the price of insurance - it is not regulated the way it was in BC. You get different rates depending on who your insurance company is. In BC it's regulated by the Insurance Corporation of BC - you know what your rates are going
Tonight, in preparation for garbage pick-up tomorrow, the kid and I took out a total of ten bags of garbage and split them between our place and one of the neighbours. Why? Because we're only allowed ten bags per household, and I was too lazy and cold to take the extra steps to put our extra bags at the end of of our miniscule driveway/parking spot. However, this means that all the bagged garbage - other than what the kid still has in their room (it's all dry garbage, no worries) that can be put out next week.. Now that my living room is not full of filled garbage bags I will be able to get into that room over the next couple of days and work on reclaiming it once again. And vacuuming with my lovely new vacuum. Because I have opted to keep my desk in my bedroom I do have to rethink what I'm going to be doing with my steamer trunk, although that may change yet again once I see just how much space I will have once my living room is cleaned out. I just find my bedroom nice and

Random Musings

Two weeks in my new room and I'm very happy with the change! There is still some more stuff to do, but I'm mostly finished for the time being. Besides, I have to wait for an order or two to arrive before I can do too much more anyway. In other news, as the hotel slows down for now I will be getting more days off back to back. Which means that now that I have basically finished my bedroom that it will be time to move onto the rest of the house. Now that I am not moving my desk into the living room the plan is to get a couple more book cases so I can display some of my collections, such as my various owls mugs and other owl décor. It will also mean more space for my books and my growing comic collection! Now I just have to get my shit together and get the living room mostly done. I bought a new vacuum about a week ago or so...and it is still sitting in its box. I'm worried about disturbing the guy living below me and making too much noise while the kid is working from home. I
