I swear that hotel guests are going to be the death of me... As I was getting ready to leave work at the end of my shift today I see an email from one of our third-party booking partners and see that a guest who checked in last night has decided to cancel her stay. She's still in-house - I redid her key for tonight because she managed to deactivate it. Yet the email we got from the site says she's cancelling her entire stay...and there's nowhere to indicate that she actually had checked-in and was still in the room tonight. I sent the guest a message via the third-party's messaging system to let them know that I'd seen the message stating they had cancelled their stay yet we know that they checked-in yesterday and are still in the room, and asked if the cancellation was a mistake on their part. By doing this, there is a record showing that they are fraudulently requesting a refund as they have stayed for their entire stated and paid-for stay with us. And then not ev
Work has allowed me to borrow one of the trucks our maintenance team uses so I can work on clearing out the crap from my apartment. I cleared out the accumulated bags out of my kitchen yesterday. Tonight I'm working on finally bagging the garbage that has spent too much time in my old bedroom, and once it cools down some more I will be loading into the back of the truck so that in the morning I can head to the dump and toss it all. I also took a spin up to visit my daughter yesterday to drop some of her food items she'd left here, stuff that I can't eat or just don't like. It was nice to see her again after a few weeks. And then today she messaged me to let me know that her (human) pet's computer chair had busted bad enough that it couldn't be fixed...so I grabbed the truck earlier than planned today and ran her old chair to her. Now I'm working on clearing out my old bedroom now that my apartment has cooled off a bit more so I won't die from it being to
Imagine my surprise when the guy I'd taken two sets of writing classes from reached out to me last week to let me know about the next set of classes he is teaching as he would love to have me come back and work on the book I started writing during the first set of classes! Obviously, I told him I'd happily come back and when I told him that due to my finances at the moment that I would have to pay in installments...and he said that was perfectly fine with him! When I spoke to a friend of mine about all this she said it was clear that the teacher thinks I've got a damn solid story to tell, otherwise he likely wouldn't have reached out to me. Needless to say, I'm excited about the whole thing. I have decided to tweak my story a little bit and include chunks from a book I'd started writing during NaNoWriMo back in 2017. It was basically a glorified fan fiction based on the BBC's The Musketeers series, and used my knowledge of period sword fighting and clothing
Due to having been a single parent for most of my daughter's life she usually does something for me for Father's Day. Due to my work shifts it's pretty difficult to get together for a meal or something, so this year my kid bought me a Magic Bullet mini blender. Something just big enough to make single-serve smoothies and shakes for myself. I've been contemplating purchasing a blender of some sort anyways, and I've heard all sorts of good things about the Magic Bullet. And they've got them on a really good deal on Amazon right now, so with my daughter's permission I ordered one on her card. It should arrive Sunday, and I'm hoping to be able to use it pretty much right away. Well, once I get home from work, that is. Honestly, I'm excited to get this into my hot little hands. I have a feeling that I will be pretty much living off of smoothies and healthy shakes instead of cooking meals that will cause my kitchen to get entirely too hot during the summer
