It's been one of those days where you get the feeling that your workplace is going to end up tanking.  Why? Considering that we're only open 3 days a week at the spa right now, and the hotel does not need full staffing either. And that the person doing payroll submission last pay period and next seems to have her panties in a knot over the fact that I'm getting more hours than she is. Sorry Ms. Spa Manager but I've got more skills under my belt than you do and can do pretty much everything other that massages or esthetician services, while you can barely do your own job. Hell, the look on her face last week when I told her that I didn't get a minimum of 30 hours a week that I was going to go sit on EI spoke volumes. As did her flat out admitting that she doesn't know even half of what I do, and is not as comfortable with handling emails, chats, and FB as I am. Hell, she can't even log into her computer in her office properly to get at anything - I've off
Things on the home front seem to have settled down a bit. At least the kid and I aren't at each other's throats right now, and that is all for the good. My daughter will be moving out, that much we know for sure, we just aren't sure when as of yet. Largely because I am not back to work f/t yet, and she doesn't want to leave me fucked for rent. So, probably once I return to work 40hrs a week and maintain it for at least a month is when she will probably give me her notice. Or June 1st at the latest. I have decided that I will remain here and cut back my spending on needless things. Honestly, if I'm not spending mindlessly, I can afford the rent and bills here. Even on EI, but it would be extremely tight, especially as I have bills I absolutely MUST catch up on before my daughter moves out. One of my friends has said that she'll move in to help with rent and bills, but this is the same person who has been saying that she is going to leave her husband for as long a
It's been a *grand* start to 2022, let me tell you! So, my dental plate broke - the two front teeth snapped off on the back. And guess who doesn't have health benefits due to being laid off? That would be me, of course. Thankfully there was enough of the plastic-y part of the gums on the back of the two front teeth that a bit of Crazy Glue was able to repair them until I can take them in to get properly fixed. I know that it's not ideal, but going without my teeth is even less ideal, so such is life. I have a bottle of crazy glue in my purse at all times now, just in case. I'm currently laid off work but we're supposed to be going back to work this coming Wednesday. I have no idea what it means for me, but I know that I will be having a discussion with my bosses if I don't get f/t hours like I'm supposed to. I'm not merely a spa receptionist - I'm a front desk manager, and as such I'm supposed to be getting f/t hours. I don't even care if not

That moment when...

...a person who only contacts you when they need you to do something, and then can't seem to understand why you suddenly can't do the thing. I've got an acquaintance who only reaches out to me when she needs something done that for some reason she can't do. Today's request was to print something out for her. In the past I've gone ahead and done it, but today I decided that I was done. It's one thing when I say I can't do something, but then get questioned about WHY I can't do it. Especially when I tell her that my printer is currently not working. Oh, if I dusted it off and checked the printer cartridges I'm sure it would print just fine, but I'm tired of wasting my ink and paper on stuff for other people. Namely her. Since I've had this particular printer she's had more stuff printed off of it than I have. If work were open right now, I'd print it off there for her instead of wasting my own supplies. Last week she only showed up
My new gaming mouse arrived today! I already had a gaming mouse from the same company (Razer) but it wasn't the one I really wanted. It had just been released so it was almost close to $200 so I went with one that was about $80. It was nice but it wasn't Chroma RBG enhanced like the one I really wanted. Then this past Christmas Eve the mouse I wanted went on price by almost 50% off...so I ordered it. Now to just get used to using it. It doesn't have the same range of RBG options as my keyboard and headphones, it's better than just glowing green like the previous mouse. AND it has three different removable side panels that I can switch between depending on what I'm doing - two different gaming panels and one regular panel. One big difference between regular computer mice and gaming mice is the response speed. I think it goes without saying that gaming mice are more responsive which is what you need for many games on the market these days. Yes, you can use regular mic
First update of 2022. A day later than planned as I usually mark January 2nd as my new year, but with COVID things got away from me. Especially as I have spent my time since this past Friday feeling like a bag of shit. Is it COVID? I don't know - apparently I'm not eligible for testing according to the government website. And finding rapid test kits in this province is next to impossible. Ugh. In other news though, I finally felt up to tackling the disaster that has been building around my computer desk for months. Oh, I sat on the floor on a pillow while clearing away the accumulated garbage from my desk area. After I removed the annoying L extension that has only ever really been used as a place to lay stuff down to forget about, that is. I knew that it was largely responsible for the mess that had gotten pushed under the desk and chair as it was a pain in the ass to clean around. It was the first thing I did in getting the mess under some sort of control. There is still stuf
