Short update
It's been a couple of weeks since I last updated, and I feel the need to at least do up a short post...it will probably end up being a long one though.
I recently gave up my spa attendant shifts at work because my knees simply couldn't take the constant running up and down the stairs. I feel bad, but at the same time I know that it's for the best. Besides, it's a job for somebody much younger than my almost 50 years. I had been helping with their laundry for the past couple of weeks and the spa manager was getting other folks to pick up the full baskets of clean laundry I would put up in the staff room - long, sloping hallway to deal with instead of stairs - but even the slope was starting to become very hard on my poor knees.
The only reason I took those shifts was because I wasn't sure if I would be able to be topped up by the latest plan the Canadian government rolled out, replacing CERB. Thankfully, I'm eligible for the CRB through EI, so it helps ensure that I have enough money coming in to pay my share of rent, bills, etc. My daughter does pay more towards everything, but they are also working f/t still and they understand that I'm doing the best I can under the circumstances.
My cleaning efforts from a few months ago have unraveled, sadly. Depression truly is a bitch, and had dragged me down. Nothing triggered it or anything - it just is what it is, unfortunately. With having more days off though I should be able to get back on top of it again. Especially with the kid and I planning on switching our rooms by Christmas.
The switching rooms thing came about because my kid needs more space for the equipment they need to get for streaming on Twitch, and I currently have the larger room. With me planning on moving my desk into the living room, I will not need as much space as I currently have and I know that my bed will fit into the smaller room without any issues. Plus, the smaller room has the larger closet so I will have more space to hang my clothes.
The plan is to still give the kid my dresser as they will absolutely need it once we have switched rooms. I don't know yet if I will finally put up the cloth wardrobe thingy I bought ages ago because with more hanging space in the closet I probably won't need it. If it turns out I don't need it, I'll either sell it, or keep it for the inevitable move we'll end up making when my knees get worse. These older houses suck for closet space because they were build in a time when people only had a few outfits they wore, or they had one of those old fashioned separate wooden wardrobes to store their clothing in.
By the time I gut my bedroom and clear out the corner of the living room for my desk, I hope to have pretty much all the clutter gone out of my home. I am still on the search for a smaller kitchen table just in case I am not able to figure out a way to set up my sewing machine on the L portion of my desk, but that is not a huge priority, especially as I am in no rush to complete a cosplay. I do have a couple of sewing projects to get done, but nothing too difficult thankfully. I really just want to get rid of my kitchen table entirely because even when it's not piled with junk we never use it to eat meals at. And it will clear up a lot of wasted space where I can put a moveable island for more kitchen workspace.
Slowly but surely I will get the place cleaned up and de-cluttered so I can get to the point where staying on top of the cleaning will be a lot easier. And I won't get so overwhelmed by the mess like I am right now. And, I have already decided that once I get everything done that I will be getting pet rats or a couple of guinea pigs again, as a reward for getting everything done. I love having a house full of pets <3
