I can has clean kitchen?
In today's cleaning news...
I have a sparkly clean stove! And my counter top has also been cleaned and de-cluttered!
I started the above process sometime late yesterday afternoon, beginning with getting all the dishes washed, dried, and put away. Including pots and pans that have needed to be cleaned for entirely too long. Good thing with T-Fal pans is that they clean up really easy, regardless of how long they've been sitting...unlike my old set of pots and pans. It probably helps that I don't use high temperature with cooking with my new set. Either way, I got all the dishes cleaned up and put away. Properly, I might add...something I often struggle with because I'm a lazy arsehole at times.
Then it lead into getting rid of clutter and useless boxes that had been on the counter, freeing up a LOT of space. Once that was done, then it was time to scour the crap out of the counter, and the sink for added measure.
With so much cleaned up and nice looking I couldn't just leave the stove looking like a state, and my brain was telling me that I couldn't leave it until the next day (meaning today). So, I pulled out the burners and the trays to soak those, cleaned out the burnt stuff that had gotten underneath the burner and trays, and scrubbed the snot out of everything. I even got into the tight seams on the control panel, and removed all the knobs to soak them in boiling soapy water. My stove looks almost brand new!
Today I've started de-cluttering the rest of the kitchen, starting with my kitchen table. My kitchen table is where I do most of my sewing as it's the only table sturdy enough for my sewing machine. And it's usually the only surface big enough for me to draft patterns on...not that I've done much pattern drafting in the past while. Such is life sometimes, right? The top of the table is pretty much cleared now, other than stuff that I need to put away properly, so the next step is to pull the chairs out and clear underneath it. I have a feeling that a lot of the stuff under the table will get tossed because it's likely been desecrated by cat pee, and even if it hasn't been it's not like I've actually needed or used any of it in a very long time. And it can be replaced if I do decide that I could have used it after all.
I have figured out that there are a few things I need to purchase over the next little while, however. High-heat paint for my bathroom heater and the rings/pans on my stove. Paint for all the trim and ceilings in my apartment, and properly brushes. Something to cover my counters with...haven't decided if I want to paint them or use heavy-duty contact paper. Wood in various lengths and widths to make shelves with - I'd even repurpose pallet wood for this! Electric palm sander as my Dremel just isn't big enough for some of the things I need to sand. New knobs for my cupboards and drawers - I already know where I want to get these from...hello bat knobs! More plastic bins for my arts and craft supplies. And so much more, but they aren't necessary right now so they can wait while I clean and organize everything ^_^
