Too sick to work out but working on some sewing anyway...
After last week's single workout I ended up coming down with the flu. It certainly explains why I felt like a sack of assholes after said workout.
I know better than to push myself when I'm sick so I haven't gone back to the gym since that day. I've still been doing stretches and whatnot at home, but nothing too intense because I know that I'm not physically up to it quite yet. Besides, when I haven't been at work I've either been sewing, sleeping, or eating. In between rounds of laundry and dishes.
I ventured out yesterday to pick up some Heat & Bond(tm) after realizing that the fabric I was trying to applique was fraying like mad when trying to zig zag stitch around it. Temperature-wise, it was in the double digits yesterday so off I go without a jacket. I had a warm sweater on so I figured I'd be good, especially when I've been spiking a fever off and on all week...at least the rain held off mostly until I was on my way home. And it was a warm-ish rain so it wasn't entirely horrible. I think today is somewhat colder but I'm not about to go outside right now to check.
I only work three days this week before I'm off for at least four days to stay in a hotel during an upcoming geek convention. I don't have to be at the hotel until around 3pm on Thursday so that gives me time to make sure I've got all my sewing completed and everything I need packed into my suitcases before I haul myself and my stuff to the nearby bus stop to take a bus to the hotel (the nearest stop to the hotel is diagonal from it so it all works, and it's cheaper than taking a taxi).
I have the following Monday booked off as well, but that may end up being rescinded because I'm supposed to start training for a new contract at work on that day. I've already warned everybody to expect me to be very hungover if I have to show up that day. Sunday night, after all the attendees have left, it is customary for the committee members (yes, I'm on the committee) to drink the rest of the alcohol we've brought in with us, and Monday is usually our recovery day. I'm not about to break tradition just because I have to work the next morning at 8am...but I will not be at my absolute best, for sure!
I've already warned the kid that if I am told that I have to go to work on that Monday that I'll be sending them home with most of my luggage Sunday evening so that I can head straight to work from the hotel on the Monday morning with nothing more than my usual backpack. I had contemplated showing up at work with all my luggage but that would just be overkill, in my opinion, although it would drive home why I had originally booked that day off. I think showing up with a massive hangover will do that as well, mind you.
Okay, enough typing and procrastinating...the sewing will not get finished if I continue to sit on my ass.
