The china cabinet is home! Well, it's in the house, which is better than leaving it in the work garage for however long.

It took two trips with a hand dolly, a whole lot of sweat, and a change of clothing, but it's here. All I have to do now is clear the area in the kitchen for it and get both pieces the rest of the way up the stairs. Oh, and give both pieces a good clean with some bleachy water in the event that there is mold hiding anywhere on it.

But it's home!

It's hard to believe that even a couple of months ago I wouldn't have got even one piece of the cabinet home quite so quickly with just a dolly. I'd have had to abandon it half way up on the first trip because I'd have been panting entirely too hard and just not had the strength or energy to finish the job. Or I'd have managed to get one piece, but not the other.

Yet today I managed to get both pieces out of the garage and up the hill to my place. Sure, one piece is still in the foyer on the first floor, but the other piece is on the second floor landing just waiting to come up the rest of the way. The piece on the first floor is well enough out of the way that nobody is going to find it in the way when trying to get through the entry and bit of hallway.

I'm trying to decide if I actually have enough energy left to move the crap out of the way of where I want to put the china cabinet finish getting it up here. Maybe? Or perhaps I should work on getting the piece up from the first floor to the second floor?

Decisions, decisions.

The main thing is that I've got it home now! Fuck using the work truck, although that would have been quicker and I'd likely have more than enough energy to just get the thing up into my place tonight. But it's also after 8pm, and I try to not make a whole lot of noise after 8pm if I can help it. Hell, half the time I feel bad just putting stuff into the dryer at this time of night!

I think for now I'm going to browse Pinterest for some inspo for what to do with my new-to-me china cabinet. It's pretty much a foregone conclusion that it is going to get painted black, but do I want glossy or matte? Do I want to decorate with skulls, bats, or something else? Am I going to put wallpaper in the back of the top part of the cabinet? So many ideas!

So, I've been verbally given a three month eviction notice due to my landlord wanting to renovate the apartment I've been living in for almost 12 years. And he's made it clear that he will not entertain the idea of me coming back once the renovations are done. So, I didn't get everything out of the basement common area by the end of October. I got a LOT of it out, but there still remains some items that desperately need to go. I just haven't had the spoons to do it yet. Such is life when your health, mental and physical, decide to have other ideas. Obviously, I'm still working away at it all, and making progress too! A week ago, during my last two days off from work, I finally put together the free shelving thingy I got from Temu and started putting things on it. Talk about a huge difference from having things all over the counter! Organization of my kettle, various water bottles and travel mugs, spices, cereal, and other things have been accomplished and I have actual working space on the counter now. Given the space and time (and another shelving thingy at some point) I'll hopefully be able to turn the top of my mini-fridge into a coffee station and get rid of the two milk-crates I'm currently using to hold canned goods...

Ex got his ass fired on Valentine's Day...what a loser

The ex no longer has a job - he was termed on Valentine's Day. I can only wonder exactly what goes through a person's head to continue to do the same stupid thing repeatedly. Clearly he's not all that bright if it means that he has yet to learn a lesson out of all of this. But I also think he tends to think he'll always get bailed out whenever he screws up like he apparently always does. When he told me that he always loses his jobs the same way, I thought maybe he felt guilty about it all and wanted to make a change. Obviously not. Whenever I eat in the food court at the mall I work in I keep expecting his mother to approach me to ask what happened. Or to give me shit for not making her son a priority. Frankly, I'd love her to try giving me shit because I'd tell her - mother to mother - that she raised a selfish idiot who refuses to learn from his mistakes or is just too stupid to figure out that how he chooses to go on is no way to live.
