Goth gamer? Maybe?

A couple of weeks ago I splurged and bought a PS4 console and some games. I did it largely because I wanted to play Dragon Age Inquisition after it refused to play on my computer anymore (apparently it's a known issue -_- ). I also bought Dead by Daylight and have only played it once. I've put in several hours into DAI though, playing more thoroughly than I ever did when it worked on my computer.

I also bought a larger entertainment stand in order to better store the gaming consoles and most of the games we have. It's larger and a bit taller than the old one, thankfully.

Slowly but surely we are upgrading some of the stuff around the house, and it started with me replacing my pots and pans back when I still worked at a grocery store. I have even been working on changing up the bathroom a bit - covering the ugly vinyl wallcovering with fake wood stickers and replacing the ugly wooden shelving I made not long after we moved in. I bought a new white shower curtain and line a few months ago but haven't put them up yet, but once I paint the the fibre-glass surround bright white again, I will be changing the shower curtain over. And, yes, I have bought the white spray paint and some painter's tape to protect the regular wall and bathtub...I just have to get around to dealing with the paint.

I have been loving sleeping in my new bed for the past few weeks, and I wish I'd been able to do upgrade my bed so much sooner. Such is life though. I have ordered a very loud and bright duvet cover that has rainbows and unicorns all over it, and one side is bright pink...just because it's so over the top. I don't usually do pink, but I couldn't resist this thing. Now to wait patiently for it to come in the mail!

Work is also starting to pick back up as the season goes on and restrictions are starting to lessen. I'm going to start at p/t hours for now, starting with a bartending shift this coming Saturday, and a couple of shifts next week to learn the new reservation system that has been brought in. I am looking forward to going back to work, honestly. Sure, it's nice to not have to get up early in the morning, but I am getting tired of being home so much. And earning money is always good.

As the Halloween retail season is starting up once again, I've also been scouting stores for new decor items. I don't want anything that is too obviously a Halloween decoration as these are things I plan on having up year round. It's not always easy, but I'm slowly getting there - I have to pick up some fake black roses from Micheals, and maybe add some red or silver flowers into the mix as well. And I picked up a couple of last year's Halloween vase thingies from Hallmark today, one of which currently has my collection of black roses in it.

Now, there is a rumour going around that Halloween may end up being cancelled this year due to the pandemic. This has me very sad, because this is one of my most favourite times of the year, and not just because it's when I can easily get home decor stuff. I love seeing the costumes - even the store bought ones - and the kids out trick or treating. I love seeing people do their yards and houses up in cool and/or scary decorations. All things that may end up cancelled. Which also means that there's a good chance that we won't see the yearly pop-up Spirit Halloween store come to town this year. Halloween Alley hasn't been here in a couple of years now, and Party City really doesn't seem to do anything specific for Halloween lately. Such is life, I suppose. Which means I will have to rely on whatever the big box stores decide to stock for Halloween this year, or figure out how to make my own. Meh.

Anyhow, I'm realizing just how tired I am so I'm going to go crawl into bed for the night. *YAWN*

So, I didn't get everything out of the basement common area by the end of October. I got a LOT of it out, but there still remains some items that desperately need to go. I just haven't had the spoons to do it yet. Such is life when your health, mental and physical, decide to have other ideas. Obviously, I'm still working away at it all, and making progress too! A week ago, during my last two days off from work, I finally put together the free shelving thingy I got from Temu and started putting things on it. Talk about a huge difference from having things all over the counter! Organization of my kettle, various water bottles and travel mugs, spices, cereal, and other things have been accomplished and I have actual working space on the counter now. Given the space and time (and another shelving thingy at some point) I'll hopefully be able to turn the top of my mini-fridge into a coffee station and get rid of the two milk-crates I'm currently using to hold canned goods...

So, I've been verbally given a three month eviction notice due to my landlord wanting to renovate the apartment I've been living in for almost 12 years. And he's made it clear that he will not entertain the idea of me coming back once the renovations are done. Yes, the place needs some work - I've been here for 12 years so wear and tear are only natural. Of course, the day he needed into the apartment was a day where the place was a state. I'd just worked my last day of a string of five days in a row and housework needed to be done. Five days worth of dishes in the sink, garbage that was in the process of being collected to put out on garbage day, and laundry that was in the process of being washed, dried, folded, and put away. Plus stuff on the floor because I'd been going through my collection of doom bags and boxes so I could get rid of more things I don't need or have room for. Ex got his ass fired on Valentine's Day...what a loser

The ex no longer has a job - he was termed on Valentine's Day. I can only wonder exactly what goes through a person's head to continue to do the same stupid thing repeatedly. Clearly he's not all that bright if it means that he has yet to learn a lesson out of all of this. But I also think he tends to think he'll always get bailed out whenever he screws up like he apparently always does. When he told me that he always loses his jobs the same way, I thought maybe he felt guilty about it all and wanted to make a change. Obviously not. Whenever I eat in the food court at the mall I work in I keep expecting his mother to approach me to ask what happened. Or to give me shit for not making her son a priority. Frankly, I'd love her to try giving me shit because I'd tell her - mother to mother - that she raised a selfish idiot who refuses to learn from his mistakes or is just too stupid to figure out that how he chooses to go on is no way to live.
