New bed for me? YAS QUEEN! Well, more like a double, but still...
A couple hours ago I finally invested in a new mattress, bought online. I've been sleeping on a twin for at least five years after my old mattress was finally too beat out to be comfortable anymore. As it was, my old mattress was given to me by somebody I never met and it was pretty old back then as well. So I'm moving back up to a double mattress once again. I don't need any bigger as it's just me and the cats that sleep in it, and now I'll have enough room to move around in once again.
I have my eye on a metal bed frame with a headboard and foot board, and I may purchase that eventually. But for now the kid and I will be swapping bed frames - their bed frame can be made big enough to fit a full size mattress, where mine is only a twin and it's only a few months old. The kid's bed frame is from the same manufacturer as the old one of mine that broke, but I do plan on replacing it eventually anyway.
I also bought a set of sheets for the new mattress because I only have twin-size sheets right now. All the blankets are at least full-size and the afghan I'm currently crocheting is going to be that size when it's all finished. I always knew that I would eventually go back to the larger mattress size. I know some folks might ask why I didn't just go with a queen-size mattress - it boiled down to price in the end.
So, in the next week I have to finally get my bedroom cleaned up and get rid of a lot of junk that has been piled up in there for entirely too long. The plan is to start at the bedroom door with a couple of garbage bags and start throwing stuff out. I will keep my bed clear so that I can nap when I need to, and the filled bags can be simply put into the kitchen for the time being. Thank goodness garbage day is Thursday for me because I can pretty much guarantee that I'll have at least four bags to put out just from my bedroom alone.
And, if I can manage it, I may end up removing everything from my walls so I can finally paint my room and get it ready for when my new mattress arrives. Much easier to do when there's nothing cluttering the floor for a change. Plus I need to clear out the corner of my living room in order to move my desk out of my bedroom. I want to try to have it all done before the new mattress arrives and before I finally return to work. My fingers are crossed!
